Help Fish ID

Could not fish Moreton Bay today after reading Webby's report on the oil spill so headed to one of my local spots. Picked this up in the headwaters of Bulimba Creek this morning. Can anyone help with an ID

Not sure on the Fish ID but looks like you could have gone fishing in moreton after all... but then again you if you had you wouldn't have caught this interesting specimen..

Can't say I have seen anything like that before.
Was it in totally freshwater?
Will be very interesting to find out what that one is.
Non-native perhaps? an aquarium reject??

Its hard to see in that photo but possably, Tilapia, just going on the colouration here!

To me it looks a bit like a juvenile Mangrove Jack??? I have seen them looking very green and less bronze/red in colouration before.

oh Horse you fooled me pretty good with that comment about webby's post. I actually thought there for a second the you actually went fishing today but then I finally looked at the time you made the post and that the picture was taken in January....

But the fish looks like it could be related to the black bass or something like that..

It is a Spot Tail Bass from the Solomons taken miles up a river in the middle of the jungle. Great place.
