Gold coast gutters.

I spent a few days at Mermaid Beach , The gutters close to the beach are very deep and the outer bank is really shallow. I swam out to the bank and in the gutter it was almost over my head even at low water, the bank was ankle deep. I saw quite a few fish while I was taking the kids for a swim, I could not get a good enough look to ID them but would guess at whiting.
I hope those formations hold till the water cools down, it was 24 degrees and 'gin clear' friday and saturday

You are probably right with the ID whiting and very small dart are the most common species that will get up on banks like that, then on the less angled drop offs just over the lip should be some flathead.

If you walk slowly on those banks out into knee deep water looking well ahead you should see some very big whiting. Catching them is the hard part.
