A big thanks to the guys in the fishing hut on Nth Stradbroke ( from the RSL Fishing club I think ) who helped with topping up the outboard internal oil tank last Sunday :) :).
lessons learn't.
1. Things always go wrong when you have your wife and two kids aboard.
2. It always rains when things go wrong
3. Always carry the manuel for the engine in the boat not on the shelf at home.
4. Merc 150's develope a vapour lock in the oil delivery system once the low oil level alarm sounds. So even if you have loads of oil in the remote tank which I did after the first alarm sounded the boat goes into limp home mode if you do't bleed the air out of the system.
5. Most boaties are willing to help out someone in need. you never know when it could be you.
So once again guys thanks very much. you turned what would have been a two hour trip in the rain into a quick 20 min run home.
