I understand we have them around and i have seen them in PNG but who has caught one on the Qld coast ?
I often see large whiting , well think they are but the thought that they may well be bonefish often comes to mind.

I'm about to post a saltwater report on a week at Noosa North Shore. Have a look at it, with picture. I caught 3 bonefish there this week - first time for me

Here's another view of one showing the very underslung mouth, one of the features that tells you it's not a whiting

Get the odd one around Agnes/1770 too mate.
More an incidental catch than anything, not sure when or how to target them.
A couple of years ago we seemed to get small ones (about 4-5 " ) on a regular basis while cast netting in the front part of the estuary. Havn't seen any of them for a while though. My son hooked a large specimen off the main beach a while back, about 18". I have a photo of a small one somewhere that a fella brought into the shop, thinking it was a deformed whiting!! There are probably more caught than we realise, most would be mistaken for whiting etc by the punters.

According to North Australian Fish Finder Pp 246 - 247 you can catch bones in southern Upstart Bay.

Have seen 3 from Fraser Island area, 2 from Sandy Cape Shoals(6kg plus) and 1 from Wathumba Creek area(1kg on 2kg line). Heard that they are not a regular catch but not uncommon catch in the northern Fraser area.

I have seen heaps of them around Hincinbrook Island when barra fishing. I have thrown a fly at them but had no luck. I have only found them on the sand flats around some of the islands.
