First time i got one I tried to get rid of all the ink first ,by letting it hang over the side and letting it squirt :-/ soon found out was not the wisest thing. ;D

So what's the general/recommended procedure when bringing a squid on-board? Bring 'em in quick and strait into a bucket/esky or wait till they squirt then bring them in?

get em into a bucket with a lid before bringin them onboard ;).

Have tangled with a few cuttlies out wide and them can squirt like a fire hose and the ink is like black as tar and seems to sink into gelcoate (does come off but only after some serious cleaning) I drop the cuttlies in a big pool bucket and drop a 5kg block of ice on em.. seems to setle them down 8-)
