For all those who use the townsville ramp near coast gaurd would know of the problems with cars using the trailer parks, to the point where you have to be at the ramp at around 5am or miss out on park. This has lead to people either going home or parking wherever they can. Unfortunately in the townsville bulletin (pg 5 30/8) it was reported that a number of boaties where fined for parking in places other than those specified for trailers. Though on the Bright side, the paper also stated that complaints about this ongoing problem with ferry passengers taking trailer spaces has resulted with a crackdown. As at midnight 24 of september any car without a trailer in a trailer specified area will be fined. It a shame that a number people had to be fined and a larger number inconvienced for the problem to rectified, hopefully come september 24 the problem will be solved.

What's wrong with council just doing their job in the first place and enforcing the existing parking rules? The ferry terminal carpark has been expanded but the biggest problem seems to be that people won't pay to park there, they'd rather park "for free" at the CG carpark. I go to the Island frequently and, since the carpark has expanded, have never had trouble getting a spot in the ferry carpark. Very expensive if you go for a few days though.
