Hey favourite_whiting,

The photo you say was taken years ago was in fact taken by myself. #It was shot on 27th February 2005 so is a bit over 18 months old. #That particular one was taken using a hand-held 4Mpix camera from a helicopter flying at 1500ft. #It was originally posted in the Ausfish forum...

http://www.ausfish.com.au/forum/YaBB.cgi?num=1129106627/0

There are two pages to that thread. #On the second page I also included some overhead shots taken using the helicopter mounted 16Mpix camera. #Note that all the original shots are higher resolution (much bigger file size) than those shown on the forum.

Also, don't be too sure that the Google Earth images are newer. #Just because they have copywrite 2006 stuck on them doesn't tell you when they were taken. #I can see areas on Google Earth that were photographed between 2001 and 2002 yet they still stamp them with a 2006 copywrite.

Sorry I don't have any newer photos. #If I get down that way again I will definitely take some more.

Chris.

Hi Chris,
I was surprised it was on Ausfish last year. I got that picture from two of my friends from Ausfish.
Yes I was unsure if it was 2006's or still old one. I like to collect picture of that island because every year that island had changed a bit. Sands are building up there near Wavebreak Island.

According to the DigitalGlobe overlays, the current Google Earth image of Wavebreak is dated September 17, 2004 - http://archive.digitalglobe.com/archive/showBrowse.php?catID=101001000343CA06

Hello all,
Didn't have the chance photo taken of those Wavebreak Island because of the weather was heavy raining that arvo/nite.
The fishing competition was not bad with 9 members attended, total altogether 25 whitings
Mary L came 1st with 7 whitings, ;) me (favourite_whiting) came 2nd with 5 whitings & ;D ::) Harry (young_mind) came 3rd with 4 whitings. Desley B caught 38cm whiting weighted .400g.
I will try next time to have my time to photo that island.
