Howdy folks, got home from work tonight to find my house had been broken into and all my fishing rods, reels and tackle box #and boxes of hardbodied lures had #all been stollen.......Even took a box full of soft plastics i imported from the USA....camera has gone and they pulled out every draw and cupboard probably looking for cash money.
GOING TO PHONE CASH CONVERTER STORES TOMORROW.
No doubt they will try and sell the items to make some fast cash!!!!!!!!

Brent,
Very sorry to hear that mate! :'(
Just one suggestion ... the crooks are probably more likely to target smaller pawnbrokers and used/second hand stores. Cash Converters has a 100 point ID policy .... no ID, no purchase! :-/ They also use a computer system from which info (ie serial numbers, etc) are downloaded by the police on a very regular basis. Trust me, they don't want the reputation of dealing in stolen and hot property either.
One last suggestion ... make a list, use pics and photos and FAX it or hand deliver it to your local pawnbrokers (ideally the guys in the buyers room) so they can be alert to anyone offering that kind of gear.
Good luck and I hope you manage to recover some of it.

Herby

p.s. I received a call from the cops the other day saying they had located some property I had stolen back in 2002 when I was broken into :o The gear had been recovered as part of a drug bust on some vietnamese heroin dealers :-X
Anyway, you just never know .... my fingers are crossed for ya. :)

Sorry to here that Brent, do you think its worth while putting up some details of what was stolen? Any specific marks, writing, colours etc. If the theives try to sell it then there is a chance someone here may come accross it.

Herby,

Don't believe everything you hear mate we had some stuff stolen from our shed a couple of years ago & found the chainsaw in the local cashy's, called the cops and on investigation found that the three different forms of id used to get "100" points where for three different people and when we pressed the coppers to charge cashy's for recieveing stolen goods the coppers didn't want a bar of it ::) left a very sour taste that one.

Brent,

Very sorry to hear about your loss mate its times like these you just hope karma comes into play, with a big truck! ;D

Cheers
Matty

I know how you feel Brent. Sorry to hear you lost all your fishing gear. I have been robbed before and there's nothing like the feeling of a stranger going through your house. Out of curiousity where are you from so we have a rough idea where the items might show up. :-/.

not good Brent - sorry to hear it
I had one guy caught by the police at cash conberters. He was on his second bike which he stole stealthily from inside our house while I was showering. The first bike was insured and the second was the replacement - and he'd come back for it as well.
Fortunately I had already alerted cash converts to the possibility it could come in. The idiot it took it to the nearest cash converts 250 meters from our house! and the police station was another 500 meters down the road. Very dumb.

Alert cash converters and you might be able to get the idiot and your gear. I've heard some stories about what goes through and what gets sold. Sad mate.

I hope you get your gear back in good shape.

Cheers #Brent
Mark i live in Brisbane.......Yes mate its not a good feeling coming home from work knowing your dogs are outside and when you open the garage door they run out to greet you.

Sorry to hear Brent, that really sucks. Weird how they only took your fishing gear - really hit you where it hurt. Petty theives, probly doing it for a quick buck so they can buy their next lot of drugs - maybe a generalisation but its the good people, like yourself, that suffer and never really recover/replace the items that have been lost. These scum (that never seem to get caught and if they do, they get off with a slap on the wrist) should be taken out the back and flogged. Or at least MADE (I don't care how they do it) to pay back what has been lost - community service, compulsory employment (earnings go directly to you), personal slave, something, anything. I always love the stories where burglers have been caught by property owners and have had the shit beaten out of them before being taken away by police. Bit more of that and we might see a decrease in these types of incidences >:(

Brent, I know how you feel :'( [smiley=behead.gif]. We got home last night to find that some lowlife had broken in and stolen some cash(mostly from the kids moneyboxes) and a few bits of jewellery.
Its not a nice feeling and the kids were pretty shaken this morning. I would like to get my hands on these scum and take them for a one way crabbing trip [smiley=behead.gif].
I will be doing the Cash converters rounds so I will keep an eye out for your gear. The investigating police [smiley=bobby.gif] said it was well worth the effort as a lot off stuff still ends up there.

Brent, you certainly had a damn lot of stuff stolen and some bloody good gear to by the look of your list >:(. I am truly sorry for you. I just can't help but wondering if the thieves know you?. I mean, it's not everybody that has that amount of fishing rods etc in their house. Makes me sort of think that they may have known it was there. Just a thought.
Hope it comes back to you or at least the insurers look after you.

Cheers

Guys the only way we can stop this scum of the earth is to turn our homes into a prison but why should we be the ones locked in.
Neil sorry to hear you had the same misfortune.....stealing from kids money boxes just shows how desperate these people are!!!
I think DC (Dane) is correct "its all for drug money"
My advice to all out there in AUSFISH LAND is lock up as best you can and keep items hidden from public view.
Cheers Brent :(

I've felt the pain of losing gear and then the anguish of if they will be back for more.
Keep everything out of site, behind the gate, with a big angry dog patrolling. My Cocker spaniel is great. He would bark at anyone walking past and has nipped a couple of friends even. (hidden mean streak) He is the most loving teddy bear if you see him, but............
I will defend my property and family against these Pri*ks if I catch them

Angla

PS hope insurance covers it or they find the theives with the goods
PSS Don't just leave it to the police. You have to be active in wanting to find this gear

Thanks for the kind offer mate but some mates have already said i can borrow some of there gear until my insurance claim goes through.
Area's most likely could be any pornbroker or second hand shop around Brisbane south side......Mate it will be like trying to find a needle in a hay stack............Sunday markets may be a place to sell the stuff also. 90% of the reels were spooled up with fireline pink or smoke green.
Cheers Brent.

Sorry to hear mate,
it's bad enough they took your gear,
but the invasion of privacy keeps you wondering even after the event, the thought that someones been in your home sucks.
keep your chin up.... with a bit of luck they will O.D. on the drug money and do us all a favour.

2/5 breakins that have happened to me have been known to be drug related. I actually was in one cash converter store (when trying to retrieve/reclaim my bike; see earlier post) when a guy in front of me was turning in a CD player (with CD in it) - he turned around to his girl behind him and said "I don't want you doing drugs and that's why I''m selling this now". It was audiable to me and the sales person. That cash converter sales person still took the CD player!!!

Brent keep scouring - though it's lucky you're insured. Hope you get the sucker(s), before he/she does another, and justice can be done.

Sorry to hear Brent my house was done over about 8 mths ago in the same street.Took all of the wifes jewellry and the young boys dvd player and all of his dvd's. I can't believe they can be so brazen when you have 3 police officers who live in the same stree. As far as the second hand shops are concerned, i used to work for cashies and it is great to give them a copy of the list. but also have a look around their shops. But leave it for 7 days as this is how long they have to hold buys for. if the thief got a loan against them this can take up to 3-4 months before they appear on the shop floor. I hope all goes well for you and you get back the majority through insurance.

Hi Brendon......Yeah mate its unbelieveable that these people are roaming the streets checking out where and what they can steal next.
Nothing is safe these days so i hope you have a lock on that boat trailer mate.
Our foreman at work had his boat stolen a few weeks ago and the police found it at the Gold Coast minus a few things and with a damaged motor leg.
Cheers Brent

Gday Brent,
Just back from a work hitch and read this post. For somebody who enjoys their fishing as much as you obviously do this must be a real kick in the guts. My sympathies! A drooling, savage to strangers rottweiler is the best security you can get in my books. I have 2 of em.
Cheers and hope items are returned, Dezzer
