All the electronics stores have these really cheap at the moment eg. http://www.biasboating.com.au/radios_two_way.html BIAS $148.90 for a decent GME !! I've seen them for under $50.00 secondhand at Cashconverter stores.

27meg are on the way out - stick with VHF and take a CDMA mobile with you. :)

If you are worried about Licences for either you or you radio go to YOUR local C/guard or VMR.

Sure I can understand you already have a 27Meg attenna, BUT when was it last checked for corrosion, connections, SWR [too technical to explain- BUT VITALLY IMPORTANT] Sun Damage ETC ETC.

Too many improbables to rely on, for "Life Saving" conditions.

IF YOU ARE REALLY STRAPPED FOR CASH, buy whats offered [better than NOTHING AT ALL]

BUT IF YOUR FAMILY {CHILDREN, WIFE etc is going out "ON THE WATER" }

For yours & us poor "B's" that have to get out of bed at some ungodly hour of the morning/night .
