View Full Version : Beacon to Beacon
Hi Guys
Looking to try to find a late edition #- Beacon to Beacon.
I have tried Post Office, multiple newsagents and Department of Transport. If anyone has other any suggestions where to pick one up, they would be greatly appreciated!
If anyone has one to sell, please let me know what you want for it ;)

Moreton Bay Boat Club, Scarborough [Redcliffe] I think still have some for sale.
But why not wait for August new edition !!!
In the meantime pick up some of the out of date Qld Charts [Maps] of your area from almost any Chandlery.{ the sand banks, Bouys, Markers, Leads, Channels etc will have moved anyway even once the new BtoB is printed}
How serious are you ?? Boat Books have CHARTS [ Seamans maps] expensive [really for BIG ship]. Necessary if you are going to do a Coastal Passage, because the Old Brownies Beacon to Beacon [now owned by Qld Transport]
just don't cut the MUSTARD. No depth contours, No Latitude & Longtitude grid etc etc.
Try plotting your position on a B to B in the middle of Moreton Bay to give C/guard or VMR your position at night.
OR
As Redcliffe C/Guard had.
A Rescue Call, when asked for a location replied
" I can see Bribie island, Redcliffe Hospital Chimney and Moreton Island"
C/guard "Do you have a GPS on board. reply "Yes, but I don't know what all the numbers mean" !!!
Knowledge is PRICELESS
Thanks everyone for your replies! :)
I am going to wait and pick up the new version in August but am going to take Jason up on his offer of having a read of his spare copy! #Thanks again - Jason! :D
Thanks for your comments Boats - we have already purchased the 3 charts that cover the bay and have been having a good look at them. #I hope with the charts and the GPS, that we will get to where we want to go! and if we ever need help:( #(obviously hoping not to!) that we should be able to give enough information about our position to help locate us. #
The Beacon to Beacon was really for a read and some info - not as the "only" source of information we would have. #Thanks for your concern :)
Thanks again everyone
Janine :)
