If you are serious about wanting a plate boat, I had until very recently a 6.5m JBS. They are situated in Slacks Creek Bisvagus and now trade as Joshua boats, as the two boys have taken over from their father, Cliff. They are very very good on both quality and price.

The centre cab rig was truely awsome coupled with a 150 HP Honda. On a good days outing with good weather try around 7 liters per hour at about 3500 rpm, which equated to about 18 - 20 knots.... standard 260 litre fuel tank, so it doesn't take a genious to work out you can go a very long way on those sorts of figures.

As I am getting to be an older fart and now looking at more of the prolonged cruising style of thing we traded sideways to a 660 Whittley. No where near the same set up, but I have converted the back of it so I can still fish of the marlin board while "she" reads her book.

By the way, I don't have any interest at all in JBS by giving them a good rap. They are just a good product, thats all and thats why you very rarely see one for sale.

Mate, don't mean to be a sceptic (OK yes I do) but 20 knots is around 40km per hour. 7 litres per hour means 7 litres per 40km. That means nearly 6km per litre!

I agree, that would be a very good day. Probably even pass a few flying pigs on the way out

cheers,

steve
