Hey, what depth waters do you plan to use it in? I have recently seen some fishfinder/sounders selling on US ebay for $130AUD including express shipping here, they are a Garmin ff90 and they come with a transducer and the garmin website says the will work up to 600ft or 180m. They also sense temperature. The screen is not backlit and is not very high resolution, but it will give basic depth fine. I went for a higher end model the garmin ff250, $310 incl shipping from USA and it has a high resolution screen, greater power, backlit screen. There are also some cheapies which BIAS stock, not sure if they're as good as the ff90, most likely more $$ though. Hope this helps. Joey.
Thanks for your help mate but probably looking for a second hand one at this stage as this will be a cheaper option. I will have a look at the one you recomended thanks again

I'm in the same boat as Tinn, want a cheap sounder for my kayak, has to have a small transducer to fit down in the keel. I would be looking at end of year sales, but stuck out in Esk for the next week. If anyone spies a bargain, pls let me know.
Cheers,
Karl.
