I am after a baitcaster rod suitable for Bass. I will be using the rod for trolling and casting and probably marrying the rod to a calcutta 200 reel.

I already have my primary rod and reel but I am after extras so that I can take friends fishing with me who don't have their own gear. Therefore trying to find a couple of second hand rods.

If anyone has a second hand rod suitable for Barra then I would be interested in that as well.

cheers

I have a Shimano baitcaster rod I am trying to get rid of. It is a Black Magnum Fightin' rod ("bullwhip") rated 10-25 lb and around 6' in length. It is in good condition and I am looking for $120 for it and located in Brisbane. Definitely capable of handling big barra.

Jeremy,

Thanks for your reply and sorry for the delay. I will hold off on the barra rod for the moment as the wife has put the squeeze on the fishing budget so I will concentrate on a Bass rod until later in the year when I head to Awoonga.

Mr Wiskers,

Is the ugly stick a graphite or fibreglass rod? how old is the rod? what is the rating of the rod?

cheers

it's an original ugly stick, graphite/glass 3-4kg has been in cupboard forabout 12 years. in good cond, will still be better quality than todays ugly stiks..
black & silver, thunderbirds on butt bind, bnhg guides bit over 5'long, great for those in tight bass waters, best i have taken on was a 9.5lb flattie. great little rod. just don't use it & have only kept it "just in case i needed it" :-?

Thanks anyway but I think that it is a bit light for me also and when I add freight to the cost I can purchase a new rod.
