Going to Sydney on the 28th
Poor bugger. I've been trying to escape the place for ages!!
Yes, a good in car nav is a great idea for Sydney. In particular some of the busier parts. I live in nice quiet Sutherland Shire so its pretty easy and less hectic down here, but with a potential move north to the other side of the city (Ryde way), considering one myself.
I did read a recent review in the Open Road (NRMA magazine) and the cheaper ones did not come out too well, mainly to do with voice commands coming so late that you miss the turn, are already past it, or need to turn off at such a speed its dangerous (heaven forbid you aren't in the left lane already). It also said that the one tested was so confused at busy places like multiple lane turn offs off the Harbour bridge etc, that it didn't know what to do so said nothing at all! So keep in mind that a cheaper one, depending on where and how its used, may not be ideal.
It would be good to hear views from people that have them and if they have similar troubles at busy confusing intersections etc.

Hi Abitfishy, you wanted some reviews on in car navigators. I have a Navman ICN 520, I have to say it really is a great unit, voice guidance gives you plenty of notice and also if you are on a highway/motorway it even tells you ages before what lane to get in before an exit. I have had it for over a year now and as a travelling Slaes Rep I use it all the time, you really do say goodbye to the refidex. I think they have just brought out the new model, the ICN 530. I would recommend this navigator to anyone, I'm just spewing that the price has come down by so much in the last year, oh well you get that I suppose.
Cheers......Dave!!
