efc hi. there is a castnet maker at redlands on 07 3206 6379 called Bob. give him a call and tell him what you want. think I would get a quote before mentioning a budget. good luck silver19

Do they make cast nets THAT strong??? maybe I should get one - I regularly wreck at least 1 cast net per season (in a good season) and sometimes more :o :o.

So if you have a really strong net - does the rock break instead of the net? :P :P (cross my fingers) ;)

hmmm,, you guys should try and make your own cast net. it's quite simple. For a stronger cast net, use a nylon one. mono will break with age - similar to fishing line. As a hint, get the maker to use thick line.
or... use thin line for the top sections and use thick line down the bottom sections.

Don't go there. #Get the cheapest mono net you can. #I have gone through 2-6 nets/year for the past five years and that also repairing when possible. #Don't get me wrong, there not wasted as I would not like to speculate on how many times I have thrown cast net.

i have gone through 3 cast nets in the last 3 months.
I have however found one which sounds like the castnet for me.

I just wish they made them to last (50lb line would go alright)

Try to bounce them over the rocks, but if you live in country where the lizards and stingers are not prevalent just get wet if the net gets stuck.

There is another net maker in redcliffe, very nice nets, and most of htem big too :o deals through the alvey takel shop oppsite pelican park ;)

I use one of his nets quite often and have lost a couple :'( but.. once i was casting from a mates 10 foot tinny and snagged a old tree stump :-/ was able to bring it to the surface but when i tried getting it into the boat we nearly went down :o :o got it back with some holes but the net was still basicly together an i continued catching bait after this little stuff up ;)
