Trailer axle

Morning everyone,
The other day I was under the the boat changing the wheel barings and even though I knew that the axle was rusting I didn't know how badly untill I tried to knock some of the rust off with a hammer, big mistake big time.So now I need to replace the axle.
The one that is under it at the moment is a round 50mm one with 3 leaf spring on holden hubs.
The boat is a 12'glass one and not very heavy.

So if after cleaning up the yard for the holidays and if you found a spare axle sitting in the long grass that you no longer need and are in the Tweed area please give me a yell

Just mesured the axle that's under it at the moment and it is only 1550mm long/short if you have one that size spare

I have one that is 1680 tip to tip if that is any good to you. It is a solid square steel 38 square. You could possibly cut and sleeve with a bit of rhs or use as it but would make trailer wider and you may have to modify mudguards. Had 13 inch holden hubs on it and comes complete with u bolts and slipper springs that are a bit risty but quite servicable. It came off an old box trailer that I purchased from local recycleland as I wanted the wheels and hubs off it.I live at Redland Bay if you want to come and pick up.

Thanks for the offer Ray but by the time I cut and sleeve it I may aswell just buy a new one from superduper cheap only $50.

Mate, I can get a new galv. one 1550 long for $55+gst for you if that's any help.
I'll be coming down one day, hopefully not so long, so I can deliver for the usual fee of a yarn.

thanks for the offer mate but the boss told me that I had to go up to tweed and get one and to stop making excuses for not taking her out for a run in the boat ;D. so what am I to do if she tells me to go and buy a new one, I just have to go and buy a new one
