greetings gents
i'm coming over in april to Sydney then a few days in Cairns. I NEED TO FISH! any suggestions? I also want to get a travel rod set-up suitable for back here UK 7.6ft. to 8.6,ft. river work. I'm thinking middle of the road type prices it will be living in the car boot so it has to be robust. Appreciate your advice.

Should be some trout down Sydney way, plenty of carp throughout the country, be just like home!

One old Templefork 4 piece, 9 foot, lovvely grub, pick your size and get at it. It will work in the old dart, or anywhere else. Cheep Cheep, but like the song of the birds and I don't mean them bloody starlings. Cheers Max

Thanks max/mack for comments and advice, carp on the fly is just catching on over here, look forward to trying that. will the 4piece templefork handle a good Carp? What would be the store to shop at?

Hi from Japan,
Saw you guys mention "carp on a fly"
Is this the Japanese Koi carp?
If so, what fly do you use?

I sometimes go widemouth bass or blue gill fishing here with a fly rod just to keep my hand in, but never thought of having a crack at Koi on a fly.
I've seen guys catching them here on a small "ball" of bread and a long rod with the line fixed to the end.

Koi are to expensive to think about annoying with the fly, I'm talking common or mirror wild carp here in the uk.

The carp that are the main target is the European carp, common to about 8 kilos, the koi carp is a smaller type here also known as gold fish to some of us.

Worm and bread pattern flies are standbys.

All carp in the wild here are noxious, and dispatched on site.
