hi there was hoping someone would be able to help me. :)
We have property in Tara Queensland and were wanting to stock our dam (which is 40m x 40m x 5m deep) with fish buut are unsure on what to put in it.
I now that there are a lot of bugs and tadpoles in the water and the last timei took a swim we had leeches in there as well.
Would someone be able to advise me on the best type of fish and quantities. :D

Thank you

Where is Tara exactly? sounds northish? anyway before you put anything in make sure it has a healthy population of smaller fish as a food source and lots of structure for them to shelter in.

Hey Reils,

Have a look at this DPI website, it should answer your questions :).

http://www2.dpi.qld.gov.au/fishweb/1261.html

hope this helps,

Tim

Thanks to Timmy and Jeremy for there prompt replies.
Jeremey - Tara is between Dalby and Chinchilla.

I will certainly take a look at the DPI site as suggested.

Thanks once again. :-*

Between Dalby and Chinchilla, Yellowbelly, saratoga and cod are probably an option. I think the rivers out that way are western flowing. They may allow you to stock bass as well, not sure though, you would have to check.
