Satellite Differential whether it is WAAS (U.S), EGNOS (European) or MSAS (Japan) isn’t available in Australia and from all accounts may never be available in Australia. There’s some fairly sound reasoning why this will be the case (no SDGPS in oz) which is covered fairly well at this link (http://www.gpsoz.com.au/WAAS.htm)
Comments made in a recent Oz review of one these particular SDGPS receivers had the impression that the system (EGNOS) should be “fully” available in Australia this year. Now I have seen nothing (in the real world) that would support this statement so I wonder if this is simply a convenient oversight, misinformed writer or maybe a line being pushed by the manufacturer? maybe all three?
Interesting to know why comments such as this, as well as some of the advertising (or should that be misleading advertising) of late are all about.
