Hi Blaze...Mate my boat is a 16ft trihull...don't know the make but its a stable boat in partially smooth waters.
Not the best in the rough conditions though....great for drifting over shallow water.
Here's a pic so you may be able to tell me what the make is.
Cheers Brent :)

Brent that looks like a machine, looks offshore capable to me, maybe some clears around the bowrail, or stand behind jack ;) whats the prob in rough water, I thought all tri hulls had some pretty fancy shapes on the bottom to deal with chop,

Hey mack i can remember when the first hydrofoil (big boat) i think they called them come out ..were a catasophry, then they fixed them and air sea rescue used them but still had problems. the pic looks like an old pride and have known people that owned them with little problems.mmmmm
cheers.

Hi Rob...the problem in the rough water is that the bow digs in instead of cutting through....would take me a week to get outside and back again..lol.
I choose the best days possible and i get home in 1 piece.
Not going to risk going out in a big sea...she's an old boat!!!!
Gotta treat her with some respect as i want to keep the old girl going for awhile.
Cheers Brent ;D ;D

I've known a few fellas with transom problems in mono hulls, seems to be a common thing that fibre boats with wood in them rot, anyone got any quick fixes that will get a few more weeks out of them without the motor coming off.

That's the problem with old boats...you have no idea about the condition of the wood inside the hull.
Was debating whether to paint my boat with 2 pack or just give it a genaral sand down and cheaper paint job.
Ive been quoted around $2500 for a 2 pack paint job.

best bet is to stick ya nose over the bung holes n draw deep, you will soon know if there is rot in there not a nice smell and makes the eyes water :'( not to mention how the boat boggs down when u hit the throtle. osmosis is worse then rotten wood tho. both smells is enuff to make you retch.
cheers.

Hi all
that pic looks like a pride and i will post a pic of mine soon. first thing i did was cut some inspection holes in the floor to check internals ( safer to have a look). the cavity is filled with floatation so i had to remove it where i decided to inspect. it all appears solid so in a few days i will build removable covers so i can inspect at will, anyway i will keep you all posted in what i find

hey brent just out of curiosity how often do you take the bung out ? the boat should never have the bung in while out of the water, fresh air etc. it looks like an old pride and if its bow down it can only be horse power, or maybe needs strakes, or a hydro foil, worse scenerio is osmosis, glass full o water, becomes like a sponge and too heavy. or rearrange the configureation. damn boats can be a pain..i am slowly getting mine to where i want it, but my biggest problem was a foil. hope all goes well

I got a foil on my boat and I take it surfing in south passage bar, rode in the pipeline for about 300 meters one day, only 4.4m and done 65 crossings of that bar in the last 3 years, foil keeps it planing at lower speeds, this has been a good thing, all boats are diff but, Cheers

Yeah Jaybee i take the bung out everytime i come home from a fishing trip....sometimes put some fresh water in the bung hole to flush it out.
usually leave the bung out for 24 hours before replacing it.

do yaself a favour brent..
(a) no fresh water up the hole..it does more damage then salt to timber, and
(b) leave the bung out all the time while on the trailer.
Like mack just said he has a foil but it might not be right for your boat. if you have one try it without it, the best spot is the mouth of the brisbane river for a short run in a 20 knot plus wind. you will soon find out.

Thanks for that bit of good advice Jaybee......Just read this post and have taken the bung out until my next trip......Yes i might take the foil off and see if she handles better.
Can always put it back if theres no difference ay.
By the way there is no rotten smell coming out of the bung hole so maybe im lucky....just a musty smell.
Thanks again mate.
Cheers Brent :D
