If this is right max wave height of Straddy early this morning was around 8m. That low down south must have been really pushing them up.

Is it gunna come down for the weekend???

Hi all

we get them 18 to 20 metres on the west coast of tassie about 6 times a year, this is the link http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDT65015.shtml
check it out when tassie is getting good west/southwest winds

umm,,Dave,

8m waves would be a lot of "up hill" sections for the hornet, but the "downhill" sections would be fun #;D

Damn, I new I should have jumped on the ferry and headed over to Cylinder. With that type of swell coming from the south there's an awsome 6 foot+ right hand barrel at the rocks on Cylinder Beach.

The locals get there pretty thick but you can always usually catch a wave.

It can be a 30-60 second wave when it's that big.

8 meters, :o :o :o that'd have to be gettin pretty bloody rough. If flat rock is 5m above water at high tide tan thats 3m over flatrock! :o :o, it'd be the biggest swell in quite a few years wouldn't it?

Cheers, Lachie
