Guys,
How are the boat ramps at Cleveland Point, Southern Moreton Bay?
After punching into a 20 knot northerly from Peel Island to Wellington Point, I thought launching from Cleveland Point would be worth considering.
Thanks
Wes
hi wesley,
i live at wellington point and generally launch from cleveland.
the w.p. ramp is $hit imho, usually a nasty cross wind in the arvo
and the rocks each side of the concrete ramp walls can cause a bad
case of ramp rash for you boat.
was fishing off the raby bay rockwall tonight, and checked the ramp
conditions as i'm back in action soon. nothing different from the last
time i was there, the surface is good, well protected from seas, and
sand one side with gravelly rock on the other. always feel comfortable
launch/retrieving alone there, unlike wello.
too bad the council can't spring for a decent pontoon/jetty for loading
family or oldies on/off.
watch security at raby bay, a few years back we got back to the ramp to
find the car/trailer had been stolen!!! apparently common occurance down there. thought of suggesting a video surveilance camera/ video recorder system would be great mounted on the air/sea building, but left it a that and now back the trailer up against the fence, fit a crook lock and disable the engine if going out for an extended trip.
going to peel is a better proposition from raby bay than w.p. if the seas are up, but the trip should never be taken lightly if the weather is dodgey. i've been surprised at how wild it can get if a big n.e. blows up.

Wes the ramp at the air sea rescue is as good as they seem to get in Bris.
Lights, 4 bays, not enough parking on a busy public holiday when the wheather is good.
But as always could do with a pontoon.
I recomend it if going around Peel over Wello any day.
Cheers Kev.

Thanks Guys,
I guess we launch from Wellington Point out of habit. The ramp is a bit shallow, you just about have to put the back wheels into the water to launch. The ramp runs out too soon at low tide.
JackLiveHere and Quinny took a bit of a pounding in the "Hornbag" yesterday. My "Sherman" handled it OK but it was slow going.
Will use Cleveland Point ramp next time we are out chasing Longtails in the southern bay.
