We have a V169 Sportmancraft (I think that is a 4.9) runabout with 70hp 3 cyl Evinrude. I am told that the Evinrude and Johhno are the same motor (?) We regularly fish 3 adults on the inshore reefs of the Gold Coast and it goes really well. It's obviously more comfortable with two but there is room. She's an old girl (1974) but well maintained and we have no plans to upgrade in the short term.
I like the idea of that hull in the cuddy cab as I feel it's better for crossing bars. If it's similar construction to ours, the deck will be glass over marine ply. I would be looking to make sure the ply is in good nick. Look for cracks in the gel coat where the deck joins the hull.
I can't comment on the motor (let's face it - I trust a donk that is 30 years old!) but if it's in genuinely good nick, it will push that hull nicely.
Let us know how you go.
Cheers
Steve.

Hi all
Had a 45hp chysler years ago and found it to be very reliable and simple to maintain, never let me down, Have it checked by a good outboard mechanic. I am a mechanic by trade and still take my 70hp 1978 vintage evinrude to the service centre for its annual (the boss/better half sleeps better) If it wasnt for the car i brought her, probable had me new o/b by now, she said its still gotta wait (bugger)
cheers
