Its a 10mm.

Hi on smaller guage ones we used to just iron man it, but on 10mm ones a steel tube was used for leverage (water pipe or the hancle of a hydraulic jack) If you use a tube make sure you start around 1/4 to1/3 up from the base ie where the prongs come out, cheers nq
the bow roller works for me.
a bit rough and ready,
but hey, it's my bow roller.
Cheers Guys, I'll try the tube. Gave up the Iron man after about 3 seconds(LOL)

That tube can be doubled as a mackerel donger if needed. ;D

Mon,
my boat came with a thick pronged reef anchor like that. When the time came found the boat didn't have enough power to bend the prong straight so it could release. Bought one with thinner prongs. It still holds the boat at anchor but if it is stuck the boat can actual pull the bend out of it and release. Worth a test run somewhere safe.

jim,
were you motoring back over / around the point of anchorage? Very few reef anchors can resist that 50m lever effect.
As for the thin one, if it releases make the angle slightly more acute & add an extra metre of chain.
