When the Formula's first appeared outboards were simply not big enough to do them justice (not even close or even in pairs) hence most of them have "holes". Either it has a "hole" or an outboard well, not sure as to how it has provisions for leg or outboard.
These days outboards have the reliability and also the size to handle a Formula and many have gone this way by throwing out the stern drive(s) and fitting a pod over that "hole" or in many cases "both holes".
Probably worth doing the rounds and pricing a sterndrive conmpared to a pod+outboard, SO many pros and cons to consider.
Cheers, Kerry.
