Hi guys and girls.
Got a Hornet 435 and just wondering where is the best place to locate a deep cycle battery for the ole bowmount electrics? Got a few ideas but would like to hear from other Hornet owners and if possible some pictures. Thanks all.

I had a box welded up the front under the hatch in my 455. Some Hornets have a live well in this area.
Down the back is just to much extra weight.
In my 3.9 I just straped it to the front seat with a bungy cord

couldn't agree more try to get the deep cycle up frount
that and the electric total weight will get the boat planning better and give for a much nicer ride

Any advise on how to mount it under the front casting platform? I'm going to have to make up a bracket to hold everything in place but if someones already gone through this before it would be great to hear from them
Cheers

no need for a battery box it is the deep cycly for my eletric and doen't get charged off the motor so it is forever getting taken out to be recharged only in the boat when it is getting used

Basserman,
Seriously consider a battery box. I work in an Automotive shop and see what happens to lead acid batteries. The amount of times I've had customers buy new batteries because of the vibrations in 4wds causing the bums to fracture and leak acid everywhere. And boats cope more of a pounding too. Not worth the risk for a few $$$s. I've even got my car battery in one of those boxes too.
On a different note, I notice that you've got an explorer with a false floor under the casting deck. The v in the hornet is a lot sharper and I'm tryin to get away from takin up to much valueable room for storage. Got a few different designs in my head for brackets at the moment.
Be good to see how Aussiebasser has got his set up. Might give him a PM
Thanks all for the advice so far. Taking it all on board. Any other suggestions more than welcome
Cheers

yeh this was a copy of my mates on he had in his 435 hornetwas sharper but still fitted.
what the pic doesn't show is the rubber under the wood acting as the shock assober and if you look closer you will see the holes used for the battery clamp
never had a problem yet in the three years or so and three batteriys (but might of just been lucky)
