Nissan (Tohatsu) Motor Repair

We currently have a Nissan 8 h p outboard (same as a tohatsu). We have changed all available gaskets, seals etc, except the powerpack or C.D. Unit. the motor works well with one person but breaks up with two people or one person and a load and will no longer go up on plane. We have talked with several mechanics and they all want to start tearing it apart at $60 plus per hour and keep throwing parts at it. That could be expensive.

Does anyone have any thoughts or knowledge of where we can get this powerpack used or on loan to even see if that would be the problem or where we might trade this in on a new motor

If in Sydney..Try Moby Marine or Neptune Marine. They both wreck outboards and may have a 2nd hand unit! 8)
