Hi,

Does anybody have any accurate fuel consumption figures for this motor. Please indicate type of hull and RPM in responses.

Many thanks :)

Hi possibly around the 22 - 25l/h at cruise even a bit less and near double at WOT. What hull and RPM are you thinking about?nq

On a 575F Haines or similar (5-6m glass hull).
I'm basically after FF figures for trolling, cruise and WOT settings. Can't seem to find FF figures online. Know any good sites?
Cheers!

Hi QF, I had a lookaround the traps but cannot find anything fuel related above a guess.
Those engines were 60 deg loopers I think, and are probably identical (minor changes) to the new johnson 115s that are sold today. Might help you track some figures down?.nq

i would've thought a 150hp motor would do better with that
size hull plus load if economy is what your after.
not to mention the performance

QF - I think Aust Propellor magazine had a test in a recent edition of all 115s (2st, DI, HPDI and 4st). Will see if I can find it tomorrow as it had all the fuel consumptions, noise levels etc. The test was done on one boat model.

Cheers,

Greg

G'day qf501,

As a vague guide for you, My Merc 115 Opi (2 stroke) is as follows -

3500 revs - 20 knots - 16 litres per hr
4000 revs - 24 knots - 19 litres per hr
4500revs - 29 knots - 24 litres per hr

5700 - 40 knots - about 38 - 40 litres per hr

idle at 600 revs is .6 of a litre per hr. ;D :o :o

If nothing else, it's a bit of a guide/comparison,

Cheers Craigie.

p.s. motor is on a light/medium weight 17 foot fibreglass runabout.

Hey,
Just looked through the database of F&B magazines comparos, and they dont have the actual fuel trials on that engine.
I had a 1995 575F fitted with a 135hp Mercruiser Stern Drive.
Used about 19L/H at cruise 20 knot cruise.
2003 140 Mercury on Hydrofield 18 used 20l/h at 4000rpm and 24 knots.
Let me know if u want info on the 575F.
Regards
Darren

QF501 - Here is the info about the 115 Johnson. It was not an Oceanpro and I am not sure if there would be a difference but this may help.

The boat was a fibreglass cuddy cab made in NZ. All boats carried 40 lts of fuel in plastic tanks. Test published in Australian Propellor Mags Jan/Feb 04 edition.

Sportfish

Do you have the results for a Yammie 115 2-stroke?

Great info sportfish, i have a 30hp on a heavy tinney that when cruising at around 25km/h can travel around 50 to 60 km per 25l tank of fuel.
It was interesting to note that because the engine in your specs travels at cruise twice as fast as my tinney at the end of the day my fuel consumption would be about the same back at the ramp.

Ok now i want a 28 footer that cruises at 100km/h [smiley=2thumbsup.gif] it shouldnt use much more fuel than the 115 after a day fishing ;D.nq
