Hello again
Taken off all the canopies & clears off the boat and the press studs are slightly oxidised. Quite a while ago on one of the tv shows, Sally Jenyns did some tips on what to use to protect zippers, studs and the like.
Can anyone remember what to use?

The bloke who made my boat cover and box trailer cover recommended Dri Lube solid lubricant for the zippers. I use either Inox or one of the lanolin sprays for the press studs on the boat cover - both work well.

I caught that show - she did canopy zippers and all sorts of things. For some reason the first thing that sprang to my mind was spray on cooking/vegetable oil...ring any bells?

I think u may be correct Outsider. If i remember correctly she made a note that it was something that would be usually kept is a boat galley.
If not spray on cooking oil,was it rubbing a candle around the item?
It even possible that I may have got that one on video. Maybe a good excuse to re-run all the old fishing videos on a wet long weekend. :P

Bees wax works a treat on zips and press studs. A camping world salesman told me when i asked the same question.

Sally J recommended candle wax oin zippers and a smear of vaseline on press studs.
I have always used both methods and find they offer a cheap and practical form of maintenance

Definately Sundays job, the covers still need this week to air, gotten most of the mould off without using too much chemicals.
