There is a product on the market called ZENOX that is an electrical contact cleaner in a spray can. Can be found at most good auto electrical shops, not all that cheap but well worth the money. It not only cleans all the corrosion and crap of your contacts, but also leaves a film there to prevent further deterioration. Great for spraying into the female bits and will also treat some of the black wire cossosion though naturally it is better if you can chop your way back to the original wiring - usually about an inch from the equipment I have always found......! The LANOLIN sprays are also excellent and far superior to the old WD40 sort of spray.
