Just a quick question as I'm sure someone would have done this before.
If I buy a VHF radio overseas that has "US and international frequencies" will it work over here?
cheers

Yes.

Certainly will [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]
One thing to remember though that stations such as VHF77 ( repeater in Australia ) when in USA mode will not allow you to TX in high power. Simply change it to International mode & all is good ;D
What radio are you thinking of getting?

Thanks
Probably an Icom302 0r 402 but I'm open to suggestions.

I also have the Icom M45.
Just bought a M302 in for a mate of mine. Virtually the same radio.

Hey heath,
Could you PM me the site that you bought your M45 radio from in the states?
best I can do is about $210 aud before postage. I'm sure I can improve on this though.
BTW I had a look on the ICOm website and they no longer list the M45 (although the pages are still there - just not linked to). Does the 302 replace the M45?

Yes, I think the M302 superceeds the M45. Like I said I got my mate a M302 last month from the states & its looks almost exactly the same, except for a few buttons & some features that are not mainstream in Australia yet.
Will PM you.
