View Full Version : Yamaha 115HP wont rev past 3000
Hi all.
My yamaha 115hp 2 stroke won't rev past 3000. As soon as I push the throttle open past 3000 it dies. Engine has just been serviced so could it be something the service guys have stufed up?
Just having a quick look under the cowl it seems like all linkages etc are in place.
any ideas before I ring the servicer tomorrow?

How later model
Maybe a wire on a sensor has been bumped or some thing, like stuck in a limp home mode

DazB ,
blaze could be on the money , it could be the motor using one of the in built safety devises & not letting you rev over 3,000 . Could be a number of things , lack of oil from the oil injection , fluel blockage etc .
HOPEFULLY it's just some sort of simple stuff up by the service mechanic .
Its unbelievable how many times I've heard of guys doing the right thing & getting their motor serviced , then on the next trip out breaking down .
Dont get me wrong there are some bl##dy good mechanics out there , there are also a lot of slack ones .
Let us know how you go .

Bet-ya Blaze is on the money but to be sure dont run it again under load until it's sorted or it might be very expensive.
thanks guys, i'll drag it in to the mechanics tomorrow. I hope its something simple
ps its an 89 model
