My 1986 Yamie 40 is coming up really nice with a resprayed leg and fitting of the new tilt motor that arrived yesterday courtesy of the US supplier.

It now looks so good that the engine cowling looks all wrong with faded stickers etc and I'd like to put new stickers on it and respray the cover.
Does anyone know where you can pickup these sort of items if they are no longer supported by the manufacturer. This must come up for all sort of engines and situations so I'm interested to know what options are available.

I can create artwork and get new stickers printed but if someone is already doing that I'd be interested to know.

take a digital pic of all stickers, and take them to a sign writer, they can then confert the file type and cut them for you
cheers

What Blaze said. But if you post a pic of what you're after, there is an internet site ( i will take a look for you ) that may have it in a ready to cut format. will save some dollars having signwriter/cutter having to redraw.
Cheers

I don't have a problem with the graphics as I redraw corporate logos all day long and might even have the Yamaha logo on file. I am curious to know if there are sites out there that cater for this sort of request because I doubt if I'm the only one. Might even set up my own service supplying this sort of stuff online if its feasible but I don't like working too hard so (interferes with the fishing) so we'll see.

Yes Heath the tilt motor was shipped with normal airmail and freight was about $40 the motor landed with duties and GST and freight and cost just under $400 which was a far cry from the $950 from Yamaha. #

Try Boat Names Australia at this link and choose the 'Gallery' menu.

http://www.boatnames.com.au

They do outboard decals as well as brand and model replacement decals. A bit pricey though.

Maybe Ausfish might be able to do them? They do boat names.

Burley-Boy, you will probably find there is some sort of copyright on their logos. where you will get away with a couple for personal use they may frown on you selling them on the internet etc.

might explain why they charge so much for their decals.. no one else is supposed to be making them. you should know that if your dealing with logos all day.

good luck

Yep I know what you mean Dr Dan but I think it might be a bit of a grey area when it comes to replacing a damaged logo that has a legitimate spot on a boat especially if they are not supporting the product any more.
Signwriters apparently make these up and restore logos all the time. However using their logo for other purposes or placing it in advertising to prop up the image of another product may land you in hot water.
There may be a gray area in law and there might be just a case of not bothering to enforce. You may be right that they will get iffy about an aftermarket label supplier or else they feel its a great support of their product but just imagine if the bugger was based in Bangalore and had an online business, would you bother?

The Yamaha dealer that sold me "legitimate" Yamaha touch up paint for the leg, sold me a paint tin that was custom matched by a company in New Zealand, the paint colour would really be as proprietary as the decals just like Malboro Red (can't spell don't smoke), and what about other aftermarket replacement parts?

Anyway in the too hard basket at the moment so Yamaha can relax and I'm going skiing. ;D ;D ;D
