Hi all

I am getting down to the pointy end of making a decision on a new boat. All going well I will have signed for a boat by the end of the boat show.

At this stage I leaning towards a Hornet (435 or 445) or a 4.3 Elegant

The Elegant I am looking at is the 4.3 TR series with a new 40hp EFI 4st Yammi

Has anyone out there had much to do with the pressed Elegant Boats?? I know there are a couple of the plate boats kicking around but I am particularly interested in the smaller pressed boats.

Any feed back is greatly appreciated.

Hi Jethro,
I just went though the whole boat sarga before i bought mine. One thing you have to realize is if something goes wrong #with your boat its always good to have where they are made handy.
I have spoken with the owner of Elagant boats and his eager to help out with design and lay out and costing involved. He was also a very nice guy to talk to.As for ride..etc i didn't get that far.
Thats why i bought a 445 hornet as they are local and are at a good price at $24.500 drive away with extras.

Thanks Steve

I have been leaning towards the 445 also. My local boat place has a Boat Show special on at the moment with 60hp 4st yammi, Minn Kota, sounder, saftey gear, etc drive away $22,000.

Elegant Boats are just up the road from me and I am trying to organise a run in one but time is a problem. From all reports they are a great hull and very well put together.

I have just been speaking with Raffi from Elegant Boats.

He told me all of his boats are now plate. I was looking at an old price list ::)

So has anyone out there been for a run in one of them???

Cheers

We had a run in one on Glenbawn early last year. They are a seriously good boat. I expect if he was located in Sydney he would never keep up with demand. Its the travel to check them out & service etc thats the problem. Check them out fully - I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

Elegant is a pretty poofy name for a fishin' boat.

Drevil - Thanks for your input ::)

Gunna - They are only about 45mins from my place as I am on the Central Coast and do a fair bit of fishing in and around Newcastle so distance wont be a problem.

By all acounts so far no one has a bad word to say about them.

Raffi came along to a S/Fish social weekend at Glenbawn & quite a number of people took the opportunity for a test run. To a man, everyone was simply blown away. I haven't heard too many reports - but those I have have been good. I certainly haven't heard porpoising problems - unlike a certain other brand of boat :-X :-X

Go the Elegant, Have herd some excellent reports on these little boats. so far have not herd anything bad about them. As we all know bad news travels fast, but must not be too much if any about Elegant boats. In my opinion stay away from the hornets, lots of trouble with porpoising and I here from a few fellows with new quintrex's that the build quality has not improved at all since I bought one three years ago. Thank god I don't own a Quintrex anymore. :P

There was a couple of elegant boats at hinchinbrook when i was up there a couple of weeks ago. One was 4.2 open tinny, powered by yammy 40hp 4st, the other was a larger one (not sure of the size) powered by yammy 60hp 4st. Very impressing looking boats on and off the water. The extra weight of the plate gave it a really soft looking ride. Chatting to the owners, the only complaint that they had was the finish on the welds. To tell you the truth, don't know what they were talking about. Didn't have a good look over them, but they looked like very sturdy boats. Very beamy!

I went and had a look at one yesterday arvo and I was very impressed. They look bullet proof.

The best part is its all custom layout, deck heights, storgae live wells, etc. No I just have to talk the missus in to the extra $$$

Thanks everyone for their input.

Cheers
