Hi Guys and gals

I am in the middle of looking for a new boat and I am hoping to sign papers on the new boat at the Boat Show this weekend. At this stage am I am tossing up between a 435 or a 445 Hornet trophy. It all comes down to how much the missus lets me spend.

I have been leading towards a 4 stroke outboard but one of the boys through Evinrude Etec into the mix on the weekend. On paper they look great, lighter, better fuel economy, and very quiet. I spoke to a dealer on the phone and he said “They go like a dog shot in the arse”

Has anyone had anything to do with these?? Any feed back positive or negative would be great.

Cheers

Jethro

Thanks Anyfish

Thats what got me started on this. I was quite happy to go with a 4 stroke and then they throw this at me.

All I need is more choices ::)

Jethro,

I have a 75 HP e-tec and love it. Used to have a 4-stroke but this is better ;D

I have the bigger Hornet 4.75m and it fly's ;D

Oh, PS Glen on sportsfish says go the Edgetracker from Stessl, cause it is a softer ride . He is lieing mate they are not a softer ride mate.
I would reply on sportsfish but it such an effort to even get the pages to load so found you here. Good luck !

Mine is the 4.75 Hornet in the QFM E-tec liftout ;)

Cheers Tony. Nice looking boat you have there

The E-Tecs sound great but I have a couple of problems with them;

They don't have a 60hp available at the moment and I think a 50 would be a bit under powered on a 445 Hornet.

I'm not sure what the resale would be on a 2 stroke that is only serviced every 3 years

3 year warranty 3 year service........... Not sure how I feel about this yet.

At his stage I am leaning towards a 4st.

Jethro,

You can get it serviced more if you like ;D

Ring Hinterland Marine Miami 55728166 and ask for the guy's name who bought a 445 Hornet with a 50 e-tec on the back, I was amazed at the speed figures he told me, Would like to see it on water though.

Good luck what ever way you go and enjoy your new rig !

Jethro,
# # # # I'm running a 50 etec on a 445 and it reaches 6000rpm with the 17'' sst prop with the boat loaded. #The 60 etec would be an over kill and a 40 would be enough. #The gps reads 38mph at full noise fast enough for me. As for warranty if you have trouble in the first year you take it in and get fixed and just because they say three years service free i will be taking mine in every year for gearbox oil and impeller.

Jethro,

Saw a older model ,Brand new 445 Hornet at Hinterland marine the other day and is on sale for $19,000 with a 50 E-tec. On water cost. Not bad price.

It is the model with the lower back casting deck not the one all the way to about 150mm to the top of the side decks.

Thanks guys.

Tonyp - I think I saw that one on the net.

Our local boat shop was running a Boat Show special on a 445 Hornet 60hp Yammi 4st. Fully kitted out with live well and electric for $22,000 drive away. I was going to order one at the show but I am leaning towards an Elegant now.

Decisions decisions...........
