View Full Version : Big HP Ficht Motors
Has anyone out there had any good or bad experience with these engines. I am looking at a '99 200hp unit.
Thanks,
Mick

Hey,
Do a search here on ficht engines.
You will find plenty of bad and some good responses.
I personally would never own one.
Many problems originally, so they have no resale value at all.
But some people swear by them. (so im told!)
Good luck with your choices.

99 thats right in the thick of it's problem years, they are supposed to be fine now as long as every update was done including the new computer mapping that actually retards each cylinder in the blink of an eye each fire to avoid detonation or something like that. The new ficts have it all over the new Yamahas which were (are?) dropping like flies I read on some US sites.
Making the consumer the guinea pig is alive and well .....still!!! even after OMC.

I know a guy who got a pair on a big seafarer and one blew up within a month of him owning it! He no longer owns the boat!
Thanks everyone for your help.
Cheers,
Mick

only heard that you need to run them on premium unleaded. normal unleaded is not good enough.
