Hi all,
I have a honda 35hp 4 stroke.
When running at full revs the engine suddenly loses power.
After throttling back to idle it runs rough for a few minutes then comes good, power up, runs well for a few minutes then
problem hits again. It sometimes runs fine for half hour or so then rough. The fuel is clean. Could someone please tell me where to start any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers .......Ross ???

sounds like a fuel restriction / partial blockage to me.
try running on another tank / line and check any filters.

agree with aido. Look for kinks in fuel line and/or tiny holes (hooks into hose) too. I've had one of each producing a similar result.
also had gunk in tank cover fuel uptake filter inside tank. this eventually let so little fuel through the motor actually stopped.
Try the easy to check out possibilities first.

Perhaps it is a rev limiter kicking in due to high temp low pressure etc.
Check with manufacturer.

Have you checked the tank breather,

well thanks to all replies,
Consensus seems to be a simple fuel problem.
I suppose I over looked the obvious I will check and replace
any suspect componants. There are some cracks in the primer bulb, but I figured a leak would show as weepage at cracks but maybe not. Anyway will test it.
Thanks again all.........Ross

any part of the fuel line between the tank pickup and
the fuel pump is under suction. therefore no leaks
to be seen, only air bubbles introduced to the supply.

good luck with it, get back to us when you find something.

gday mate
if there is cracks in your primer bulb that is the first thing that i would replace. Once they get a crack in them they are stuffed.

cheers anyfish
