Forget the Opti's and the HPDI and go for a 150hp four stroke yamy. You wont be disappointed. Just my opinion.

"V-TEC 150 HONDA" !!!!!

VERY SIMILAR IN SPECIFICATIONS TO THE 15O YAMMIE 4 BANGER, BUT THE FUEL ECONOMY IS FANTASTIC. ON A CRUISE SPEED (4000 - 4500 REVS) YOU SHOULD BE GETTING AROUND 2KM TO THE LITRE ON THE BIG REBEL CENTRE CAB :o :o :o :o :o

MY NEXT BOAT WILL HAVE A 150 V-TECH, GO THE HONDA !!!!!!

Have a read of the following link. A bit long winded but worth the read. Link was posted on another site.

G'day Lee,

Mate, love my 115 Opti, not swapping it for anything (I'm sure your the same with your 135), but if I was fortunate enough to get a much bigger rig down the track the new Honda 150 would have to be considered, the fuel consumption figures are that good !!! Mind you, I should wait to see the mid-range Verados before sprooking too much ;)

Cheers
Craigie.

see how much you pay for a second hand 115,150,225 when you compare what they fetch compared to new prices youl know why the wize blokes only buy four stroke, the performance differences are marginal, so are prices (reliability)? but resale of the motor or boat motor combo suffers. But in saying that the rebel should be a great rig hope all things work out!...foxy

Craig,

is the 150 Honda a detuned 225? If it is, there has got to be a big power to weight ratio trade-off.

Biggest decision for me is if you troll at all. No matter what they tell you the high tech EFIs are also noiser. Actually just spent a day on a boat the other weekend with the high tech Tohatsu 70. He is getting the same economy as 4-stoke 50-60s on the same boat I couldn't come to grips with the typically rattly 2 stroke sound.

Smithy,

The 150 Honda is a 2.4 litre that weighs 216 kg's (similar to the 150 yammie 4 banger), as far as I know it's not a de-tuned 225 as I suspect it is a lot heavier as well as the cowling's have a different shape. I'm not a Honda expert, so I could be wrong ??
Fuel economy at 4500 revs or less is better than my 115 Optimax. Have read three seperate write-ups on the economy of the Honda 150 and the message has been consistant and obvious each time. 20 litres per hour sitting on a cruise speed of 4500 revs (have read the tests done on three different boats, inc a 6.2 noble super-V) is too good to ignore.
Trolling figures were equally impressive.

Cheers
Craig.
