wanted put a small step ladder on the back off my tinnie ( so i dont have give the missus a leg up while holding the boat)
i bought a small one step fold down ladder that takes 4 bolts to hold it in place
my question is Should i bolt it straight on the back or
Should i try and put some sort of backing where i put the bolts through ?
Was thinking i should put a metal plate to make it stronger
any ideas would be very helpfull
also when drilling and bolting any ideas on the type of sealent to use

thanks

Scotty,
What size boat?Got a picture? I have done a lot of work on similar, due to the age of my father in law. I would work on a marlin board , Plus the ladder.

I would definately use some sort of backing plate or plates, Maybe even some alloy angle or similar depending on the situation.
Use a silicon that is designed for use on alloy as some can cause corrosion if used on the wrong metals, you should be able to get some from any hardware store.
