Hi Guys,I would appreciate some advice please. My very faithful Yamaha CV40 is now five years old,I have done all of the servicing since the motor finished its' warranty.I change the impellor every twelve months and do all the usual items (the tafe course I did has more than paid for itself).I have put in a new water pump kit but have been told that the power head and cylinder head should be removed to change gaskets and anodes. Is this correct? Thanks.

:)Would be wise to check this out with the Dealer for your outboard..
Certain outboards it is VERY!!! wise to give it whats reffered to as its Major Service which does consist of a changing of certian gaskets n seals..few people have paid the price for neglecting this particular service ey..
Five years or certain amount of hours??..
Maybe we have the odd outboard Mechanic onboard who can advise a bit better(wiser) ???..
Cheers

my old yamaha service guide seems to entrust the
longevity of the motor to a repetitive series of checks
of which the 200hr/1yr is the most detailed.

when they say check the anode every 10 hrs i'm sure
they are talking about the trim tab anode.

often additional small anodes are fitted in the water galleries.
check your manual, could be under the cylinder heads.
i would not be rushing to pull the heads off, unless there were
other problems. then a bit of de-coking, de-scaling and
checking the anodes would be the go, and a gasket kit.
