picked up an early(somewhere between '79 & '84) yammy 25hp,,was just wondering if anyone knows what oil ratio to run(100 to 1 or 50 to 1) as it hasnt got the little sticker on it anymore to make sure...oh,,and should i run pulp or ulp..
plus,,if anyone has a yammy from around that era,,any horsepower,,would love to see a few pics of it,,i've just repainted mine and need to get new stickers made up,,previous owner had painted this thing flat black and added a few jack daniels stickers :-[...paz

i would stick to the 50/1 ratio and as for pulp or ulp i dout there would be any advantage of pulp
don't forget the motor was made3 to run with 50/1aust or 100/1us along with leaded petrol
i would be really thinking of running with the lead replacment fule ;D

All yammies run 100:1 as a opposed to mercs and others that run 50:1. However my yammy dealer reckons you should run 50:1 if you are pushing a decent load. I run 100:1 in mine but its not that old but a mate has one and he runs the same as me. He reckons if you run 50:1 you burn to much oil and not enough fuel and you dont get the performance

....All yammies run 100:1 ....

Do you mean ALL yammies ::) including late 70, early 80 models?? as stating that ALL yammies run 100:1 is rather incorrect and if someone followed this advice for an older yammy engine (pre 1984) then they would simply blow the dam thing up.

Yamaha have only made 100:1 engines since 1984 so please check the facts before making statements that are incorrect.

Cheers, Kerry.

im sorry cause i would have said that all yammies run on 100:1 until i heard that. i also didnt realise that there were any yammies before 1984 in australia from reading an outboard guide, but hey i must be wrong. i use 50:1 in mine anyway as me mech. said was a better idea.

thanks for the replies guys,,,i actually cleaned the old tin tank up and found under the grunge a sticker that said 100:1,,but as we all know it could be a newer tank then the donk...i've looked everywhere to find out the age of the motor (its a 25de) but to no luck,,,think i shall go with 50:1 to make sure......
