Hey peoples,

Over the last few months I have been slowly (too slowly) doing up a boat that has had a serious face lift. I now have the motor on which I recently acquired for a good price and I was wondering if any can help me with the following:

- Does anyone know of an OB mechanic that specialises in Tohastsu in the Brisbane Metro area. A lot of Mechanics I have chatted to will not go near them.

- By looking at the motor, does anyone have a rough idea how old it would be (ie. what year model).

Here's a pic:

Hey Mic

You may find the year and model on this site. #

http://www.marinshopen.se/index.htm

It's in Swedish but the brand names are easily distinguished. #You will need the serial number from the motor though. #Give it a go and let us all know how you faired.

All the best

:) :)

Trailer Boat Marine at Manly are Tohatsu dealers.
The old guy there that runs the place is a guru on them so i am told.
I hope this helps.

I had an 85 40hp once, I would guess yours is the model before judging by the decals and overall style, possibly late 70 early 80s?nq
PS hope my boat turns out half a smick as yours, great job!

Thanks for your help Morlers & Reel Hard. I will check that site out.

This boat has been a project that was started in June last year and we have been working on it most weekends since.

It is a 14ft 1974 Savage Avenger (or it was, anyway) and it has had a complete facelift from a pissy little speedboat to something decent enough to go fishing in.

I have taken many photos during the stages to what it is now as a lot of glasswork has been done to it and in the next few weeks when I finish the fitout i will share the story with some before during and after pics.
