Can any body help me .
I have a 4 HP mariner which appears to have be starving for fuel .
It starts easily and idles ok , adjusting the mixture screw does nothing and the idle stop screw does nothing . In neutral it is very doughy and will not rev out , but if you tap the air breather hole it will pick up . when you put it in gear and load it up its worse . I have stripped the carby twice but , new fuel , plug , but all to no avail .
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated .

May not help, but I have a cheap 4.5 Merc for sale. Runs a dream.

Also try checking fuel lines and reclamping them, it may be sucking air from somewhere.

Thank you for the reply ,
I have replaced all the fuel lines & clamped them with cable ties but still the problem exists.
Funds are very tight at the moment but what year model is your Merc and price please , my son might be interested as well .
Thanks Kev

G / day kev i would be lookin at the coil below the flywheel carnt think of the name of it my 60 hp mariner was doing the same thing as yours and i did all the fuel things too and still had the problem so took it to a mech and he knew straight away that it was this sxxxxxx coil, it transitions power from idle to high speed. Not cheap to replace new price for mine was almost 600 dollars, not saying thats your problem but it does sound like the same as mine and they say merc/mariners are renouned for doing them. Hope this helps .
