A mate told me that he cannot drive his 100 hp yamaha fourstroke into water as shallow as he could with his 115 hp yamahatroke (same boat ).He says that the motor will not operate with the same degree of tilt as the twostroke due to oil not being supplied to the motor at large tilt angles. The twostroke will operate so long as water is visible fom the telltale.Anyone heard of this?

I have a Johnno 90 4St & it was running at near full tilt in some shallows :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ around Campwin Beach the other week. It was pumping water OK at what seemed to be the same angle as it's predecessor - 75 hp Mariner 2St. No oil alarms going off but the water pickup was still submerged & the revs were low.

I think your mate should have a good look at his oil level. Spent 3 years with a 115 yamy 4 banger fishing the rivers and creeks in the Top End, not once did I have any of the troubles your describing.

Im with Ron check his oil level. Ive got a F80 Yammy no problems with the prop just in the water, I also have it trimmed right up to knock the speed down when trolling lures no dramas.
