Somebody was telling me yesterday that Quintrex are pumping out 80 boats a day. Could that be right?? If it is and if you consider all the other manufacturers, how many new boats are hitting the water every week? I see the photo posts from the GC with traffic jams of boats. At this rate things are gonna get a lot worse.

He also said their factory is 8 acres!! - and a few things about quality control that I won't mention because it might be considered libelous

Some of their quotes
"produces in excess of 15 thousand boats each year"
"employs over 300 highly specialised people"
"a 22,000 square meter purpose-built factory was constructed in 2004"

So 15,000 / 250(working days assuming 5 day week and annual holidays) about 60 a day.

Then the extra acerage may be including land around the factory.

For quality control, I'll take a large scale producer every time. No problems with my Quinnie and their volume production was one of the main reasons I bought this brand.

I have heard from a mate who works with my Dad (both welders) that they have had a few troubles with the welds because of the lack of decent aluminium welders around today. Dont get me wrong I own a Quinnie and they are great boats but I think there quality has suffered a bit lately.

Also I tend to not agree with the way they produce boats. I dp believe they make batches of sizes so if you want a 4.2 dory and it needs to be ordered it can take a while because they might be off making another type of boat .

well i have had a problem and think they need to have a closer look at their quality control (but then again with such mass production your bound to get one or two bad ones)
i brought a new quinny explorer trophy and found out s few days later after comeing home each trip half full with water that they missed about 3 inches of wealding that and the usalul bowing of their hatches that happens alot
but all in all i like their range and price for river and inshore boats
;D

In general I would take a small scale producer over a large scale producer anyday. I have been seriously considering a quiny but from some of the stories about dodgey workmanship I am definately thinking twice. I wouldn't really be fussed if I knew they would fix any problems ASAP but I have heard even more stories of boats not getting fixed and people being given the run around which makes a new buyer like myself a bit nervous.

The way i understand it,quintrex also manufacture stacer boats from the same factory on the same production line so both brands should have the same standard of quality control on manufacture, i can't recall where i heard it but i also believe they are looking at or doing some welding with robots,I also believe they are exporting some models.

When I was buying my tinny, I was told that both Quinnie's and Stacers under a certain size (I think it was 4.2m or thereabouts) were made in the same factory. Both could have been welded by the same person.
I ended up going for the Stacer, there was alot more there for the same dollars, and the old man had some trouble with after sales service with his 5m Top Ender.

speaking of QC, i just got my new Stessl edgetracker and it's gotta go back for dodgy seat welds, I can't believe it wasn't picked up in the factory ???

I believe that Quintrex are or soon will be manufacturing boats in a factory in the USA for that market.

Cheers
