what a great day for a bit of fishing.
after launching and idling out into the channel
went up on power to get out of the hole and
i'm making heaps of revs and not going too far.
like a slipping clutch in a car.
looks like the prop hubs spun out.
luckily i could still putter back to the ramp at idle.
glad that didn't happen 30k's off shore, lol.
solas can replace the hub rubber for $95,
i suppose they are the preferred guys to use?

So why did the hub spin, old age?, too many standing starts and too heavy on the big stick? (some call this user phenomena "a hole shot" #;D), too much load? A motor not able to achive max WOT?

What many probably don't realize that they are probably slipping the prop/hub over a period of time without knowing it before it finally lets go and goes bang. One way to keep an eye on the future possibilites is to mark the hub and the prop.

Cheers, Kerry.

Heard a story from over in Dubai about props and hub rubbers spinning out...They reckon it was from tilting the engines up when not in use and the excesive heat was making the rubber brittle with age??? Thats what they said not me ;)
