SN = 9439394 does anyone know the year?

You main problem is often sites only have the US numbers, not the Australian

Indeed it is a 1986 Belgian made Merc.
Aust serial no's start with 8* Canada 7* Euro 9* and USA 5,6,OB OA OD etc

I could be wrong.. but I don't think Merc made an Aussie 35hp only a 40. Check page 137-138 35hp.
