G'day folks,

I have been an avid Ausfish lurker for a couple of years now, striking from cover to score a bargain including two boats, Ausfish stickers, knotted dogs and the best buy of all, the beer fridge complete with kegs etc. ;D ;D ;D
Today I am chasing some advice, do I need a seperate battery for my electric motor (46lb thrust) to the marine battery used for the outboard, sounder, lights, bilge pump....

Any advice would be gretly appreciated

Definitely yes. Electric motors need deep cycle batteries which handle the constant high current draw. Starting batteries die very quickly from this. Away store them fully charged and go for a sealed one too because acid and aluminium boats don't mix.

davo,

Thanks for the advice. I guess I will be up for a deep cycle battery. Any particular brand, amp hours, etc.
