You will need three seals to do the job Rob.
If you only have two new ones, you will have to use the best of the old ones.
And don't do a mucho job on the tension, tight is tight and broken is to tight.

Kerry, thats what they sell at the marine shop and the boats always had that type, is there a better type?

Rob, A CAV296 is a 2 micron filter and any marine shop who are worth the salt wouldn't (shouldn't) recommend that type of filter for an outboard, certainly used in marine applications but aren't the best for an outboard. A 296 also has a low fuel through capacity but many people still use them on some rather big outboards, not sure why they would want to do that ???

Most marine outboard fuel filters are 10 micron.

Cheers, Kerry.
