View Full Version : townsville boating weather this weekend?

just wondering if anyone thought it worth a run this weekend? BOM saying 20-25 kts SE and have all week, however each morning I've taken a run past beach and flat as a tack (7-8am morning). Wondering if it's typical for it to be flat for a few hours and the 20/25 come up after lunch. Just want to take the boat for a run

Its blowing 20-25 out here in Kirwan as I type so I would'nt be too keen on a run...unless ya got a bigger boat. Has been pretty dismal of late and looking at the charts will be the same for a while to go yet....

i live in Kirwan, but work in town. it's been blowing here too.

i've got a 5.4m glass and only want to take for a quick run - blow the cobwebs out.

I was hoping that a run at say 7 in the morning would see it smooth enough.

Don't feel like coping a hiding.

My first test drive in the boat was blowing 25kts and the entrance to the harbour was like surfing - the boat'll do it, but i don't like travelling that slow.

Just go for it Cooky. The faster you go across the water the less you will hit the chop and therefore smoother the ride ;D ;D

I think the main problem Cooky wil be launching and retrieving. 20 knots on any ramp will be a pain

20 -25 SE knots anywhere other than West Point area is a real shitty day.

Same here in Melbourne 20-30 knot Northerlys. Ah well at least it is warm and not raining.

Monday looks good.

Townsville Airport 09:10 EST ESE 21kt with 28kt (gusts)
